On one of my many trips to lunch I came a cross a little cafe offering very reasonable sized baguettes for £1 in London of all places, problem was me being me I did not have any cash just a card and not being one to shy away from paying for something that was 43p at Tescos with a debit card I assumed it would be ok here. Well it wasn't the case as the card machine just didn't want my money. But the kind lady behind the counter rather than asking me to leave till I got the cash was kind enough to trust I would pay later. So free today and double next time I guess.
It just goes to show there are some retailers out there who still trust in their customers. Then again maybe she was just put off by the enormous que behind me and did not want any more fuss. Oh well. Still a good day.
Its a good reason to walk to work as you never know what free stuff people will hand out and in London that's pretty much everywhere. Free paper, free tea, free mouth wash, free sweets, Free willy (well maybe not the last one). Hooray for free stuff especially in the Recession.
